AND THE NOBEL PRIZE GOES TO…

Let’s take the Noble Peace from Barack Obama and give it to Vladimir Putin. Obama was given the prize for two reasons, one …for not being George Bush. Two, he promised the most transparent administration ever. Instead he has sequestered more documents than any president in history, gone after more whistle blowers than all other presidents combined, and carried George Bush’s spying programs to new, airy heights even Bush and Cheney would be jealous of. Further he lied about everything he said in his election speeches. He did not stop torture; he did no close Gitmo.

Vladimir Putin, and every Russian leader since Gorbachev, has been lied to by America. The agreement between George Bush Sr., representing America, and Michael Gorbachev was that if the USSR allowed the wall to come down and East and West Germany re-unite, the West (America and NATO) would not expand eastward, would not arm the newly independent countries, would not push the East European countries once under Soviet control to join the EU. Every single president since Bush Sr. has broken every promise ever made and pushed Putin to the edge.

Washington betrayed Russia, and NATO added 12 eastern European countries in three subsequent rounds of enlargement. Russian President Vladimir Putin’s aggressive actions in Georgia in 2008 and Ukraine in 2014 were fueled in part by his ongoing resentment about what he saw as the West’s broken pact over NATO expansion.

Now that increasing numbers of formerly secret documents from 1989 and 1990 have made their way into the public domain, historians have shed new light on this controversy. The evidence demonstrates that contrary to the conventional wisdom in Washington, the issue of NATO’s future in not only East Germany but also Eastern Europe arose soon after the Berlin Wall opened, as early as February 1990. U.S. officials, working closely with West German leaders, told Moscow during negotiations that month that the alliance would not expand, not even to the eastern half of a soon-to-be-reunited Germany.

According to documents from the West German foreign ministry, Genscher told Hurd that Gorbachev wanted to rule out the prospect of NATO’s future expansion not only to East Germany but also to Eastern Europe. Genscher suggested that the alliance should issue a public statement saying that “NATO does not intend to expand its territory to the East.” “Such a statement must refer not just to East Germany, but rather be of a general nature,” he added. “Soviet Union needs the security of knowing that Hungary, if it has a change of government, will not become part of the Western Alliance.” Genscher urged that NATO discuss the matter immediately, and Hurd agreed.

Three days later, in Moscow, Baker talked NATO with Gorbachev directly. During their meeting, Baker took handwritten notes of his own remarks, adding stars next to the key words: “End result: NATO would not move eastward!”

Ukraine President Petro Poroshenko is a brutal oligarch, a butcher, a liar, who practices ethnic cleansing. To him, Russians are sub-human, vermin to be exterminated. Left to his own devices, he would have killed or suppressed politically, economically, militarily every Russian in the country. Vladimir Putin exhibited great restraint in only using the minimum of force necessary to avoid a slaughter. He could have rolled through Ukraine and taken back the country. He allowed thousands of his own people to die rather than act too hastily or swiftly.

Further sanctions have just been levied against Russia: restricting travel to and from the Crimea, halting the use of Visa and master card.

The ramification of these sanctions has not been considered. If one asked, “What happens when you corner a badger that’s hungry and fighting for his life? What if Russia feels it has nothing to lose by invading the Baltic States, or ‘stan” countries and taking over their natural resources and sell them to China or India?

Instead of isolating and alienating Russia, any sane government would propose a way out, an exit strategy, such as offering Russia entry to NATO and to the EU. Far fetched? Ridiculous? No, the irreversible will come when Russia is left with no choice but to grow by territorial expansion.

If you read “1984” by Orwell, you will see the U.S. using the EXACT same policy: Constantly invent an enemy to keep the American people distracted from the fact that everything is being taken from them.

My political commentary is meant to bring a heightened consciousness and real discussion to people intent on changing social, political, and economic conditions. Politics as usual is destroying our Democracy. Government corruption demands real political change, not just a new candidate in the old system. Political leadership only leads to self-serving agendas and self aggrandizement. Politicians eschew social causes for personal enrichment. Political power corrupt morality and rationality. The result is criminal behavior and Constitutional crimes.
