WHAT IS WRONG WITH JOHN ELWAY?

John Elway is a creature of immediate gratification.  This can be seen in his drinking which triggers the release of serotonin, the body’s feel good chemical.  There are five natural ways to trigger the release of serotonin but those ways take effort, focus, dedication and time.  The immediate ways to gain serotonin release are sex, drugs, alcohol or dangerous pursuits.

It has been documented that the people who are most successful in life are those who defer immediate gratification.

Being a creature of immediate gratification has led John Elway to dedicate his efforts to gaining a super bowl at the expense of building a team for the future.  While other teams were all seeking young quarterbacks to build a team around, a quarterback for the next 20 years, Elway sought old men at the ends of their careers.

Yes, Payton Manning gave Elway and Colorado a super bowl, but at what cost?  Since winning the 2015 super bowl, Denver Broncos have gone 9-7, 5-11. 6-10, 7-9.  Four years of not reaching the playoffs; three years of a losing record.  That will continue for this year and possibly for more years into the future.

When a rumor came out that Aaron Rogers was unhappy at Greenbay and might be looking to be traded, Elway immediately put together a tempting package to entice Rogers.  But it turned out to be nothing more than a rumor.  What happened was by far the worst decision of Elway’s storied career.  He had a chance of picking up Justin Fields or Mac Jones in the 2021 draft.  Two of the greatest college quarterback prospects to come out of the draft in a decade, or more.

Now there is no Rogers and no Fields and no Jones.  Instead Denver has Terry Bridgewater and Drew Lock, two proven losers with no potential beyond the pathetic numbers they have already put up.

My point is that even if Rogers was available, the right play, the long term play would have been to go with Jones or Fields.

I’m sure that Elway doesn’t even realize he is a creature of immediate gratification but people around him should know.  Put this man out to pasture.  Allow him to pursue his personal agenda and drink himself into oblivion.  He is the worst thing that’s ever happened to the Denver Broncos and the people of Colorado…even if you take into consideration the super bowl.
